Aerobatic Training, Tailwheel Training, and Emergency Maneuvers
You have heard hanger talk about the Pitts. Perhaps you are intimidated by the reputation of the Pitts during landing? Actually, a Pitts is easy to land, even in a brisk cross wind, if you receive proper Pitts Training. You can become a “master stick” with a proper Pitts Checkout from Jim Alsip, MCFI-A (Master Certified Flight Instructor with Aerobatic endorsement).
The Dylan Aviation Flight School Pitts Transition course syllabus is based upon five to ten hours of dual flight time in a Pitts S2A. This is enough dual instruction to meet most insurance requirements. Pitts Transition Training is highly recommended if you are buying your first Pitts S1 or S2, Eagle or Skybolt.
A tail wheel endorsement with 25 hours minimum tail wheel time and 150 total PIC hours is pre-requisite. Pitts Transition Training is a great excuse for a Fly Florida Get Away Vacation. After two Pitts S2A flights each day, you will be ready to relax in Florida’s fantastic weather, and experience “old southern” hospitality at the historic and charmingly restored Seminole Inn.
